Scenic Sunday: Austria

Here are two photos of the fairy tale castle of Hochosterwitz in Austria. As you can see, it's perched way up high at the top of its own mountain—and it's a LONG way up! You leave your car at the bottom and walk up and up and up through a dozen or so fortified gates (photos another day). I was pregnant when we went and it was quite tiring! I really love old places, though, and I loved this one. Plus, the view from there was lovely—as you can probably imagine from the second photo!

Thank you darling for visiting me and for the lovely comment. I did visit the Prodigal Husband and in fact I have a post on his book on my blog, hope you both approve.

That's exactly the sort of place where my D&D magic-user character would have wanted to live ...

Oh this is so ethereal. Is it open to the public these days, or is it still occupied? I always wonder where they got their water. Poor maids carrying it up that massive hill? Thanks for sharing.

Your Grace: Bonjour! So pleased to see you up and about--do hope that means you're better. Will pop in shortly, I'm sure the Prodigal will love what you did--he always does!
Dennis: Who you calling a character? Yes, he'd get a lot running and hiding in over there!
Life's Journey: Thank you!
Jo: It is open to the public, and well worth the long walk. Like your thinking about the maids, most likely there was a well up there, though I don't remember for sure.

Wow - I just love that fairy tale castle. I want to say I'd be too lazy to climb up that hill but I seemed to get over myself when I was walking around the US!

It looks exhausting to climb up let alone being preggers when you do it, well done you.
