Scenic Sunday: Show me the way

If I were a sailor returning home after months at sea, I believe I would find this lighthouse in Tangiers a most welcome sight. Even from the safety of the shore, I found this view pretty spectacular.

Well, not sure if it was due to my suggestion, but I sure like this photo, a LOT. So scenic! Delightful in every way.

Since you did appreciate my first suggestion, perhaps I can offer an second one. Not sure if you use Photoshop, but I wonder if you are able to rotate your images so that the horizon is level. On ocean shots especially, it gives a more solid and peaceful look. If you use Photoshop I can tell you how to do it easliy, just email me.

By the way, my stepfather grew up in Antwerp (which is where the Nazis got his family), and I've always wanted to visit Belgium. A beautiful country, it looks like.

Cool to see a lighthouse from a different part of the world -- I've seen many here in the U.S. but so far they've all been fundamentally the same structure deposited in a different environment.

Ahhh....the colors in this one are wonderfully intense. Beautiful scene. I wonder what one would see from that exotic tower...just dreaming!

Interesting lighthouse structure! And love the fall of land away from the lighthouse to the blue sea! Delightful photo!

That's a beautiful view! The lighthouse has its own architectural character, too. Thanks for sharing this unique scene.

This is so beautiful, so scenic. Why do I think Matisse painted in Tangiers - I have memories of a beautiful scene out of a window.

Lovely! It's nice to see a square lighthouse - all of ours here in N Ireland are round and stripey :)

Beautiful picture. Lighthouses have always had a draw to me after visiting many in the British Isles years ago.

Sara--glad you like this one and OK, you were right, I straightened it out a bit, it does look better flatter, doesn't it. Thanks for the tip!
Maggie--thanks, and welcome! And we'll definitely keep an eye out for the mail, thanks! How exciting!
Dennis--I hadn't thought about that, but you're right, American lighthouses are all circular, aren't they? And much larger than this one.
Linnea--thank you, glad you like it! Perhaps on a clear day you can sell all the way to America?
Grayscale & Janie--thank you! Interesting, you're all picking up on the different architecture, I just thought it looked pretty and I loved the colors.
Leora--thank you. Don't remember Matisse painting outside of France, but Southern France has quite bright colors too, maybe that's what you remember?
Kitty--Thank you. I like the sound of the "stripey" lighthouse, is that visible at night?
Bill--thanks, lighthouses do have something special, don't they? Though I don't think this one looks big enough to live in, do you?
